Searching "Systeme.io pricing" turns up two different stories. The official page lists four plans and a "2 months free" annual toggle. A pile of other pages promise a 40% lifetime discount. Only one of those is verifiable at checkout, so this covers what's actually on the pricing page, plan by plan, and the point in a solo business where paying stops being optional.
The four plans, side by side
| Plan | Monthly price | Contacts | Funnels | Courses | Webinars |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 2,000 | 3 | 1 | Not included |
| Startup | $17 | 5,000 | Unlimited | 5 | Not included |
| Webinar | $47 | 10,000 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Included |
| Unlimited | $97 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Included, plus sub-accounts |
Every plan, including free, includes unlimited email sends, 0% transaction fees on anything you sell through it, and the full funnel and email builder. The paid tiers don't unlock better tools. They unlock more room and a couple of specific features: webinars from Webinar upward, and sub-accounts (running client sites under one login) from Unlimited only.
That's worth sitting with. You are not paying Systeme.io for capability. You are paying for headroom.
About that 40% discount
Systeme.io's official annual billing gives you 2 months free, which works out to roughly a 17% saving over paying monthly, not 40%. Several third-party pages (some of them built on Systeme.io's own subdomain by affiliates) advertise a "40% lifetime discount." We could not verify that number against the official checkout, and prices on those pages weren't internally consistent with each other. Treat any "40% off" claim as unconfirmed until it shows up on the actual payment screen when you sign up. The 2-months-free annual offer is real and shows up automatically when you switch the billing toggle.
Free: how long it actually lasts
The free plan isn't a trial. It doesn't expire and doesn't ask for a card. For a new list, 2,000 contacts with no cap on how often you email them covers the first several months of most one-person businesses, sometimes the first year.
Where free runs out first is usually funnels, not contacts. Three funnels sounds like plenty until you're running one for the lead magnet, one for a paid offer, and want a third to test a different headline. That third slot for testing is where people hit the wall before they hit 2,000 subscribers.
Startup ($17/mo): the upgrade almost everyone lands on
Unlimited funnels is the actual reason to move to Startup, more often than the extra 3,000 contacts. Once you're testing opt-in pages, running a second offer, or building a simple membership area alongside your main funnel, the 3-funnel free limit is the thing that stops you, not the contact count.
$17 a month for unlimited funnels and 5,000 contacts is inexpensive enough that most people upgrade the month they notice the wall, rather than waiting until it actually blocks a launch.
Webinar ($47/mo): only worth it if you sell on webinars
This tier exists for one reason: automated webinars. If your sales process is (or will be) a webinar funnel, replacing a dedicated webinar tool at $47/month is a real saving. If it isn't, the extra $30 over Startup buys you 5,000 more contacts and nothing you'll use.
Don't upgrade to Webinar for the contact headroom alone. Startup's 5,000-contact ceiling with unlimited funnels covers most solo businesses for a long stretch; jump straight past Webinar to Unlimited if contacts are genuinely the bottleneck and webinars aren't part of your funnel.
Unlimited ($97/mo): agencies and multi-brand operators
Unlimited contacts and sub-accounts are the whole pitch. Sub-accounts matter if you're running Systeme.io for multiple clients or multiple brands under one login, which is an agency use case, not a solo one. If you're a single business with a single list, you'll likely never need this tier even at 20,000 subscribers, because Startup's unlimited funnels already cover the workflow and you'd upgrade contact room within Webinar first.
When each upgrade actually pays for itself
| Situation | Right move |
|---|---|
| Building your first list, one offer | Stay on Free |
| Testing multiple funnels or running 2+ offers | Startup ($17) |
| Webinars are your main sales mechanism | Webinar ($47) |
| Past 10,000 contacts on one list, no webinars | Unlimited ($97), skip Webinar |
| Running Systeme.io for multiple clients/brands | Unlimited ($97) |
The honest limitation
Every tier, including Unlimited, caps you at one automation rule of the kind free users get, unless you're specifically building the advanced branching logic that competitor tools like GetResponse do better out of the box. Systeme.io's automation is "if this, then that," not "if this, then A, else B, else C." For a welcome sequence and basic tagging, that's enough. For a multi-path automation business, it will feel restrictive regardless of which tier you're paying for. Paying more buys you contacts and funnels, not automation depth.
Verdict
For a one-person business, the free plan is not a placeholder, it's a genuinely complete starting system, and the first upgrade (Startup, $17) is cheap enough to not deliberate over once funnel slots run out. Skip Webinar unless webinars are actually how you sell, and skip the "40% off" claims you'll find outside the official pricing page until you see the number at checkout.

Not sure the free plan is right for you yet? Our Systeme.io free plan review covers exactly where it stops, feature by feature.
The free plan is genuinely usable for months, and the first paid tier is cheap enough to not think twice about once you need it. Not for you if you already run a large list on another platform and have no reason to migrate.
